A large body of evidence supports the hypothesis that mesolimbic dopamine (DA) mediates, in animal models, the reinforcing effects of central nervous system stimulants such as cocaine and amphetamine. The role DA plays in mediating amphetamine-type subjective effects of stimulants in humans remains to be established. Both amphetamine and cocaine increase norepinephrine (NE) via stimulation of...
Abstract A new method is presented for the tritiation of aryl compounds with tritium gas which is conducted on the underivatized substrate. Combined directed ortho metallation and facile reduction of the carbonpotassium bond affords incorporation of tritium at high specific activity under mild conditions. The metallation/reduction method is demonstrated for the preparation of [ 3 H]ibogaine.
Tritium labelled ibogaine, for pharmacological studies as an anti-addiction treatment for cocaine abuse, is prepared by a new method for the tritiation of aryl compounds involving ortho metallation followed by facile reduction of the carbon–metal bond.
