From Retrieval to Revelation: Is Pre-Conceptual Awareness a Baseline or an Ontological Ground?

Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research) June 15, 2026 Tenzin Trepp preprint

We examine the claim that a minimal-conceptual, “bare” awareness underlies ordinary experience, and whether this pre-conceptual awareness (PCA, or minimal-dual awareness) should be understood primarily as an earlier, biologically rooted developmental baseline, or as a disclosure of a deeper ontological reality. The Retrieval hypothesis treats PCA as a cognitive–neural default mode that can be...

Attentional Capture and Ethical Responsibility in Theravāda Abhidhamma: A Formal Reconstruction of the Cognitive Sequence

Journal of International Buddhist Studies June 15, 2026 Indrajith P. Karunanayaka

Understanding how intention and karmic accumulation occur within Buddhist ethics benefits from examining the cognitive sequence (citta-vīthi) described in Theravāda Abhidhamma. Standard manuals describe this process for isolated stimuli, but leave open how competing or overlapping objects are resolved under the system’s timing constraints. This paper introduces a typology of attentional capture...

Cambridge University Press eBooks June 12, 2026 Patrick Mcnamara

.I study what is known about the extent to which group minds shape the content of dreams and suggest we can interact consciously with some group minds during the lucid dreaming state. Content of Group Minds

Cambridge University Press eBooks June 12, 2026 Patrick Mcnamara

I examine more closely the question of whether and how we can voluntarily access and benefit from accessing group mind content. I argue that some of the experiences on serotonergic psychedelics can be seen in terms of unstructured access to a variety of group minds. The ego dissolution experience on psychedelics can be viwed in terms of fusion between the individual and some salient group mind.

The Doors of Perception

June 12, 2026 M. R. Hasan

Chapter 10 : The Doors of Perception explores how altered states unlock consciousness’ vast but ordinarily constrained potential. Drawing on Aldous Huxley’s mescaline experiments and his notion of the brain as a “reducing valve,” the chapter follows how chemical mysticism, meditative practices, and rational inquiry by figures such as Richard Feynman open access to hidden territories of...
