A foundational Unitary Information Field (UIF) acts as an atemporal, informationally complete substrate that self-trains toward Dual Symmetry. It generates localized, self-similar informational subsystems called Instantiated Nodes. Conscious observers are biological systems coupled to these Nodes through an Informational Access Boundary (IAB), a filtering mechanism calibrated by evolution and modulated by individual agency. The Informational Access Capacity (IAC) is the underlying variable manifesting as inhibitory control, attention, and meta-cognition, determining IAB permeability. A two-gate model of agency is proposed: evolutionary permission (Gate One) and individual practice (Gate Two). Psilocybin, the psychoactive compound in magic mushrooms, is produced by a biosynthetic gene cluster (BGC) traditionally linked to Psilocybe species but also found in other genera. Sequencing genomes of 30 psilocybin-producing mushroom species and comparing them across 20,608 genomes indicates the BGC likely arose from endogenous fungal gene duplication and rearrangement, not horizontal gene transfer from non-fungal sources. Four independent horizontal transfer events and three BGC configurations were identified. Transcriptomic profiling shows PsiK is highly expressed in mycelia, while PsiH and PsiM are inactive, correlating with the absence of psilocybin in mycelial tissue. Divergence timing suggests a post-Cretaceous-Tertiary radiation linked to mammal rise and new ecological niches. Horizontal BGC transfer drives genetic innovation and species diversification.

The term "sleep paralysis" in narcolepsy may not refer to the same neurophysiological state as typical isolated sleep paralysis in healthy individuals. Typical isolated sleep paralysis occurs upon awakening and involves residual REM-related muscle atonia without emotional triggering. In contrast, narcolepsy-related experiences labeled as sleep paralysis more often occur at sleep onset and are closely associated with hypnagogic hallucinations and cataplexy-like muscle atonia. Many such reports may represent a composite experience of REM intrusion at sleep onset rather than a direct increase in typical isolated sleep paralysis. The paper argues that the term should be used with explicit distinction regarding timing and the mode of muscle atonia.
