Essere un soggetto è un fenomeno naturale?
Rivista di Estetica January 30, 2019 Alfredo Paternoster
Metaphysical naturalism in the philosophy of mind is the thesis that mental facts can be deduced from neurophysiological states. This paper argues that the thesis is false for standard propositional attitudes like beliefs and desires, but can be defended for low-level phenomenal states, or raw feelings. Since higher-order mental states require the neurophysiological mechanisms that constitute raw feelings, the self has a biological basis, and subjectivity can be regarded as a natural phenomenon.
