A meta-analysis of 90 experiments from 33 laboratories in 14 countries found evidence for a small but statistically significant precognition effect—the ability to be influenced by a randomly selected stimulus before it occurs. The overall effect size (Hedges' g) was 0.09, with a combined z-score of 6.40 and a Bayes Factor of 5.1 × 10⁹, exceeding the threshold for decisive evidence. When the original author's experiments were excluded, the effect size for independent replications was 0.06, with z = 4.16. Additional analyses indicated the database was not significantly compromised by selection bias or p-hacking. The authors discuss the controversial status of precognition and related psi phenomena.

Anomalous or exceptional experiences, often interpreted as paranormal, can be better understood at the intersection of psychoanalysis and cognitive neuroscience. Three research lines are discussed: these experiences often emerge as non-pathological hallucinations in reaction to negative life events; they involve traumatic aspects and altered states of consciousness; and they may result from a hypersensitivity linked to increased psychic permeability. The authors conclude that anomalous experiences serve as primary forms of symbolization and transformation of subjective experience, particularly during or after traumatic situations.

The replicability crisis in psychology was influenced by nine experiments that were presented as evidence for precognition. This paper argues that the debate around those experiments offers an opportunity to develop original thinking about psychology and replicability. After discussing psi and scientific epistemology, the authors describe a paradox that questions the suitability of the scientific method for psi research, highlighting problems in how such experiments are conducted and potential consequences for mainstream psychology. Two classical experiments—the Ganzfeld protocol and the Bem studies—are analyzed to illustrate the paradox. Mainstream research is examined in the context of the replication crisis, decline effect, and questionable research practices. The conclusion proposes future research directions and emphasizes the heuristic value of psi studies for psychology.

Psychoanalytic therapies require a specific setting, psychic state, and processes such as transference, free association, dreaming, play, reflexivity, and narrativity to induce psychic transformations. These transformations involve non-linear processes that take time and involve high entropy states, characterized by an interplay between extension and reduction of free energy. This interplay allows new orders of subjective experience to emerge after states of disorder, following an energetic threshold that modifies mental functioning. High entropy states also foster random functioning and psychic malleability, enabling exploration of subjective experience. The model supports dialogue between psychoanalysis and other fields, including the neurosciences of subjectivity.

Sigmund Freud initially worked to distinguish psychoanalysis from occultism, explaining so-called prophetic dreams through unconscious processes. His attitude toward occultism gradually evolved, with a growing interest in a 'kernel of truth' he linked to telepathy. In 1925, he replicated an experiment by Gilbert Murray with his daughter Anna and Sandor Ferenczi, combining telepathy and free association, which convinced him of telepathy's reality. He shared this conviction in 'The Occult Significance of Dreams,' a supplementary text to his Interpretation of Dreams. Ernest Jones's reluctance to associate psychoanalysis with telepathy contributed to the subsequent marginalization of this interest. The authors aim to restore the context of this rarely commented text and identify its extensions in experimental research on telepathic dreams.
