Intuition and Nocturnal Dreams: the Lived Experiences of Private Company Executives in the Light of Hermeneutic Phenomenology

Philosophy of Management March 13, 2026 Vicente Reis Medeiros

Abstract This empirical study questioned the experience of intuition among private company owner-executives from a phenomenologically informed perspective. The study included three participants from Brazilian organizations operating in the service provision (technology and education) and agribusiness (rice farming) sectors, who shared their experiences through written reports and interviews....

Balancing Lucidity: Muscle and Vestibular Stimulation for Lucid Dream Induction

bioRxiv (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory) March 13, 2026 Emma Peters, Xinlin Wang, Kathrin Fischer et al. preprint

Abstract Lucid dream (LD) induction using external sensory stimulation has most commonly relied on distal cues such as lights or auditory signals, with mixed success rates. In this study, we investigated whether more direct bodily stimulation targeting the muscle and vestibular systems could influence LD induction. We compared electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) and galvanic vestibular...

Waking Up in the Dream Lab: A Lab-Based Lucid Dream Induction Paradigm Using Virtual Reality and Sensory Stimulation

bioRxiv (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory) March 12, 2026 Emma Peters, Johanna Heitmann, Nicolas Morath et al. preprint

Abstract Lucid dreaming (LD), during which the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming, is frequently induced in laboratory settings by delivering sensory cues during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. These cues should be incorporated into ongoing dreams and can trigger reflective awareness. This approach relies on the continuity between waking experiences and dream content. In sleep...

Music in dreams: Exploring the frequency and emotional dimension of music-related dreams among music professionals

Psychology of Music March 10, 2026 Jan Mauren, Michael Schredl

Music and dreams have been recurring and meaningful themes throughout human history. Empirical research on the topic of music in dreams is limited, particularly when it comes to studies involving participants with professional musical training. In this study, 37 music professionals participated, reporting a total of 151 dreams in a 14-day dream diary and completing questionnaires to assess...

Revisiting auditory-triggered reality checks in lucid dream induction: A sleep laboratory study

University Library Heidelberg March 10, 2026 Xinlin Wang, Johanna Heitmann, Lorenzo de Neri et al.

Lucid dreaming refers to a dream state in which the dreamers are aware that they are dreaming and may be able to intentionally influence the dream content. Previous studies have shown that lucid dreaming provides a useful model for investigating cognitive processes during dreaming and may also have potential therapeutic applications. However, reliable methods for inducing lucid dreams are still...

The Awareness-First Theory: A Coherence Principle Underlying Active Inference and Physical Law

Entropy March 9, 2026 Jason Clarke

The Free Energy Principle (FEP) and Active Inference provide a unifying variational framework for modelling perception, action, learning, and self-organisation across biological systems. While highly successful at explaining how systems maintain organisation under uncertainty, these frameworks remain explicitly neutral with respect to a foundational question: why there is experience at all....

The Awakening Brain

March 5, 2026 G. William Domhoff

This chapter is similar to Chapter 5 in that it provides the first synthesis of the various neurophysiological and neuroimaging findings concerning the nature of the arousal process that leads to the morning awakening. It uses the neuroimaging studies to show that very specific networks lead to the almost instantaneous return of consciousness, but people nonetheless feel groggy and often are...

夢見と感情制御に関する調査研究の文献展望

Institutional Repositories DataBase March 2, 2026 Koichi Yamaguchi

This paper provides a comprehensive examination of the history of dream research in three fields: psychoanalysis, cognitive psychology and neuroscience. The evolution of theories is described in terms of historical periods. The first period spans from Freud’s “Dream Interpretation” in 1900 to the 1950s. The second period extends from the discovery of REM sleep in the 1950s to around the 1990s....

『天界の秘義』と『視霊者の夢』 : 心霊問題への哲学的アプローチ《論文》

Institutional Repositories DataBase March 1, 2026
