Effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) on Marital Satisfaction and Distress Tolerance in Women with Premature Menopause

International Journal of Body, Mind and Culture January 1, 2024 Elahe Geraeeli Moshkabadi, Mahsa Fallahnezhad

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) improved marital satisfaction and distress tolerance in women with premature menopause. In a quasi-experimental study, 30 women aged 35–45 were randomly assigned to eight 90-minute MBSR sessions or a control group. Those receiving MBSR showed significantly greater gains in both outcomes at post-test, and the effects remained stable at one-month follow-up. The authors suggest MBSR may help address emotional and relational challenges linked to premature menopause.

The Effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy on Quality of Life in Relation to Health and Self-efficacy in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis

International Journal of Body, Mind and Culture September 7, 2019 Mina Azarnik

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) improved health-related quality of life and self-efficacy in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. In an experimental study with 30 patients in Isfahan, Iran, the group receiving eight sessions of MBCT showed an increase in mean quality of life scores from 79.8 to 82.8 and in self-efficacy from 27.5 to 33.4, while the control group showed no significant change. The authors conclude that MBCT is an effective group intervention that may help patients adapt to and accept their condition.
