A Narrative Review of Mindfulness-Based Interventions for Women’s Mental Health
Lecture Notes in Education Psychology and Public Media November 5, 2025 Yuan Lu
This narrative review examines how mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) affect women's mental health by focusing on underlying mechanisms rather than program types. The authors analyze evidence that training sustained attention and acceptance enhances conflict monitoring and non-reactivity to stress-elicited thoughts and emotions, enabling decentering and better emotion regulation. They argue these processes are conditioned by social context, occupational demands, and life-stage transitions, and that mechanisms recur across settings. The paper contends that care should be mechanism-led and context-based, pairing practice with low-barrier supports that fit individual life stages and align with women's social identities and living conditions.
