An interaction design model for virtual reality mindfulness meditation using imagery‐based transformation and positive feedback

Comput. Animat. Virtual Worlds May 18, 2023 Yingying She, Qing Wang, Fang Liu et al.

A proposed interaction design model for virtual reality (VR) mindfulness meditation uses imagery-based transformation and positive feedback to help users quickly soothe negative emotions. Building on traditional mindfulness meditation, the model specifies three steps: an interaction guidance process, an interaction experience context, and an interaction feedback mechanism. Two scenarios were built based on these steps. Experimental results suggest the design can effectively alleviate anxiety and provide emotional relief. The transformation model is offered as a reference for VR mindfulness meditation systems and as a new idea for non-pharmacological interventions in psychotherapy.

The Effects of a Modified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program for Nurses: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Workplace Health & Safety October 29, 2018 Lin Lin, G. He, Jin Yan et al.

A modified 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program for nurses in general hospitals in mainland China reduced stress and negative affect while increasing positive affect and resilience. No improvement in job satisfaction was observed, though trends pointed in the expected direction. The program appears effective for improving emotional well-being and resilience among nurses.
