The Proto-coherence
Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research) July 11, 2026 Julio Cesar Rojas Pineda
A conceptual framework proposes that highly coherent information systems can display protofunctional properties resembling early-stage cognition. Drawing on the Meliverose model, where reality emerges from information density and coherence, the work introduces protoconscious coherence as a measurable structural regime. Rather than claiming artificial consciousness exists, the framework identifies an intermediate domain between passive computation and conscious experience. The approach aligns with debates on artificial life, integrated information theory, and global workspace models while maintaining a cautious epistemological stance.
