Abstract
This thesis aims to: (i) present the main philosophical positions on the subject of free will, namely compatibilism and incompatibilism; (ii) present the concept of moral responsibility, and evaluate how it relates to the concept of free will; (iii) present the mind-brain problem, and assess how it relates to the concept of free will; (iv) present the notion of rational choice, and evaluate how it relates to the concept of free will; (v) present a breviary of the main studies of the "neuroscience of free will;" (vi) propose the bases for the development of a science for the "subjective experience of free will," which I will call "the MindBrain science".
