Abstract
Abstract ADHD is prevalent in children. Mindfulness training (MT), a psychological intervention, has been explored for ADHD , but research focusing on Chinese pediatric populations is scarce. This study assess the effects of MT on ADHD in Chinese children. 29 children diagnosed with ADHD were selected randomly assigned to either an intervention group (n = 15) or a control group (n = 14). The intervention group underwent 8 weeks of MT, while the control group remained in a waiting state. The SNAP-IV Rating Scale for ADHD was administered to all participants at baseline and after 8 weeks of intervention. Results indicated: (1) No significant differences were found between the intervention and control groups in terms of total score and the three subscales at baseline; (2) After 8 weeks of MT, the intervention group exhibited significantly lower scores across the total score and all three subscales compared to baseline, while no significant changes were observed in the control group; (3) At the end of the intervention, the intervention group showed significantly lower scores than the control group in the total score and all three subscales. These findings suggest that MT is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for ADHD in children, offering a viable treatment option.
