The Second Plenary Council of the Philippines (PCP II) stressed the importance of interfaith dialogue.'Although it mentioned the world religions present in the Philippines, it forgot the primal religion of our indigenous peoples.Instead PCP II put believers of primal religion as objects of evangelization -not agents of evangelization.This oversight of PCP lI can perhaps be traced to earlier Church documents.The Vatican II "Declaration on the Relationship of the Church to Non-Christian Religions" (Nostra Aetate) considered the Church's relationship only with the great religions; nowhere did it mention the primal religions.We therefore understand the same omission in other Church statements, like those of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences (FABC).Yet primal religion is found in the whole of Asia (including the Indian subcontinent, Tibet, China, Indochina), Indonesia, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Australia, the Pacific countries, North and South America, Africa.These peoples constitute a big chunk of the world's population.'
