Dale gefragt wurde, wer die Isolierung des wasserlöslichen, mysteriösen Wirkstoffs aus den Keulenkopf-Sklerotien angehen könne, dachte er gleich an seinen langjährigen Kollegen und Chefchemiker Harold Ward Dudley (1887–1935) am National Institute for Medical Research.
