A video tutorial on loving-kindness meditation was developed to help university students improve emotion regulation, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among 272 students at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, the average score on the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale-Short Form was 53, indicating moderate difficulty. The video was created using a Design Based Research approach with three stages: analysis and exploration, design and construction, and evaluation and reflection (limited to evaluation). Expert reviewers rated the media at 98% and the content at 93%, showing the video is highly suitable for use.
This study measured stress levels among 165 adolescent students and assessed their need for a mindfulness-breathing meditation video. Stress levels were high, averaging 27 out of 40 on the Perceived Stress Scale. Females reported higher stress than males (27.2 vs. 26.6), and a greater percentage of females experienced high stress (54.1% vs. 41.3%). Despite this, most students had minimal exposure to stress reduction techniques (80.15%) and breathing exercises. All students were enthusiastic about learning mindfulness-breathing meditation via video, indicating that developing such a video is important for helping reduce adolescent stress.
