Adolescence is a transitional period between childhood and adulthood. Depression in adolescents is not merely ordinary sadness or stress but a serious condition that affects their behavior, emotions, and thinking. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) can train adolescents to develop metacognitive awareness—the ability to observe thoughts as temporary mental events rather than absolute truths. Through mindfulness practice, adolescents learn to become observers of their emotions, creating space between themselves and emotional experiences, allowing more flexible and adaptive responses. This study examined MBCT's effectiveness in reducing depressive symptoms in four adolescents, using BDI-II scores before and after MBCT.
