Educación September 28, 2021 Lee Fergusson, Javier Ortiz Cabrejos, Anna Bonshek
A survey of 91 randomly selected school children aged 11 to 16 in the remote Peruvian Andean town of Huay-Huay examined self-reported effects of meditation on physical health, cognitive health, emotional health, and school performance. Most children reported benefits across all measures, with stronger benefits associated with more regular meditation practice. Qualitative reports supported these findings. Gender and grade level did not appear to influence outcomes. The authors note the scarcity of such research in Latin America and in non-Western schools generally.
