Nootropic Candidates Inhibit Head-Twitches Induced by Mescaline in Mice.

The Japanese Journal of Pharmacology 1992 Tsuneyuki Yamamoto, Masuo Ohno, Shin‐ichi Yatsugi et al. 7 citations

The effects of various nootropic candidates on mescaline-induced head-twitches were studied in mice. The number of head-twitches induced by mescaline (100 mg/kg, s.c.) was significantly reduced by idebenone (32 and 100 mg/kg, i.p.), minaprine (0.32-10 mg/kg, p.o.) and nebracetam (100 mg/kg, p.o.). Cholinesterase inhibitors such as tetrahydroaminoacridine (1 and 10 mg/kg, p.o.), NIK-247 (10 and...

Effect of zotepine on head-twitch induced by L-5-Hydroxytryptophan,mescaline and 2,5-Dimethoxy-4-methylamphetamine in mice and rats.

The Japanese Journal of Pharmacology 1983 Tsuneyuki Yamamoto, Naoe Tazoe, Showa Ueki et al. 9 citations

The effect of zotepine, a new neuroleptic, on head-twitch induced by L-5-hydroxytryptophan (L-5HTP), mescaline and 2,5-dimethoxy-4-methylamphetamine (DOM) in mice and rats was compared with that of known neuroleptics and the serotonin receptor blocker cyproheptadine. Among the neuroleptics tested, zotepine and haloperidol produced potent inhibitory effects on head-twitch induced by these three...

Pharmacological characteristics of abnormal behavior induced by harmine with special reference to tremor in mice.

Journal of Pharmacobio-Dynamics 1981 Kazuko Kawanishi, Yôhei Hashimoto, Michihiro Fujiwara et al. 11 citations

Harmine, a hallucinogen with potent monoamine oxidase inhibitory properties, induced abnormal behavior, including tremor, scratching, head twitch and cage biting, in the mouse. A dose-dependent tremor was produced by all routes of administration of harmine. Although oxotremorine tremor was markedly suppressed by atropine, harmine tremor was unaffected by cholinergic drugs, remarkably inhibited...
