Adding mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and physical activity (PA) to standard antidepressant treatment with sertraline improves sleep and psychological symptoms in people with major depressive disorder (MDD). In a randomized trial with 67 outpatients, those who received a combination of MBSR and PA showed greater reductions in perceived stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, and sleep problems compared to those receiving only sertraline or either intervention alone. The benefits were sustained at a four-week follow-up.
