Combined mindfulness-based stress reduction and physical activity improved psychological factors and sleep quality in patients with MDD: A randomized controlled trial study.

Archives of Psychiatric Nursing December 1, 2024 Ebrahim Norouzi, Azadeh Naseri, Leeba Rezaie et al. 12 citations

Adding mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and physical activity (PA) to standard antidepressant treatment with sertraline improves sleep and psychological symptoms in people with major depressive disorder (MDD). In a randomized trial with 67 outpatients, those who received a combination of MBSR and PA showed greater reductions in perceived stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, and sleep problems compared to those receiving only sertraline or either intervention alone. The benefits were sustained at a four-week follow-up.
