Role of Mindfulness Practices in the College Classroom
Journal of Effective Teaching in Higher Education January 5, 2022 Erica F. Kosal
A study compared two sections of an introductory biology course taught by the same instructor: one used lecture with active learning, and the other additionally included mindful practices. Quiz and exam scores did not differ significantly between groups. Students in the mindfulness section reported gains in attitude toward mindfulness, decreased anxiety, and benefits such as focused attention, peace, and relaxation. Over 90% agreed that mindfulness has a valuable place in the college classroom.
