Dream Sociodrama

The Journal of Psychodrama Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy January 22, 2026 Joseph Dillard

Dream sociodrama, a methodology combining Moreno's sociodrama and sociometry with Ken Wilber's AQAL model, is part of a broader integral deep listening practice. In this playful and constructive approach, a protagonist selects three life issues and shares a dream, nightmare, waking drama, sociocultural crisis, or historical event. Group members take roles and answer scripted questions to generate surprising and humorous transformations, followed by the protagonist. Participants then develop action plans based on recommendations from the interviewing process.

What is Dream Sociometry?

March 20, 2018 Joseph Dillard

Dream Sociometry is an interviewing protocol within Integral Deep Listening (IDL), a form of dream yoga that treats waking life as sharing the same delusion as dreaming—the belief that one is awake while asleep. IDL proposes that, like lucid dreaming, one can become lucid to this delusion. Dream Sociometry adopts multiple perspectives by asking individuals to consider various world views invested in their dreams and life dramas. It is described as transpersonal, providing temporary and permanent access to levels of development that transcend rational and prepersonal stages.
