Efektivitas Teknik Mindfulness Metode STOP dalam Menurunkan Gejala Risiko Perilaku Kekerasan: Analisis Berdasarkan Etiologi

Lontara Journal Of Health Science And Technology July 15, 2026 Gabriela Rosario Asriviananda, Yunita Astriani Hardayati

The STOP mindfulness technique (Stop, Take a breath, Observe, Proceed) reduces signs and symptoms of violent behavior risk in psychiatric patients, with effectiveness depending on the underlying cause. In four patients, those whose violent behavior was a core problem showed a significant 3-point symptom reduction after six sessions including three 20-minute STOP exercises. Patients whose violent behavior resulted from hallucinations showed a less significant 2-3 point reduction, as hallucination intensity hindered full mindfulness. Stabilizing hallucination symptoms before cognitive intervention is recommended for optimal outcomes.
