An 8-session virtual mindfulness or compassion training reduced perceived stress during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to a waitlist control group, but did not significantly change hair cortisol levels or psychological well-being. Hair cortisol remained within normal ranges, suggesting a protective effect. Qualitative interviews indicated both interventions promoted eudaimonic well-being.
