Abstract

Patients with chronic diseases often face barriers in maintaining healthy dietary patterns and managing stress, which negatively affect their quality of life. This community service program aimed to improve nutritional literacy, stress management skills, and strengthen resilience among patients with chronic diseases. The methods included nutrition education using leaflets, mindfulness training through breathing relaxation and positive affirmations, and focus group discussions (FGD). The results demonstrated increased knowledge and participant satisfaction with the materials, accompanied by positive effects on physiological regulation. Qualitative data from FGDs revealed nutritional barriers, stress awareness, direct experiences after practice, and social support that enhanced participants’ motivation. These findings highlight that a combination of education, breathing exercises, positive affirmations, and social support can strengthen resilience in patients with chronic diseases. This program provides direction for future development through repeated and continuous interventions. Furthermore, longitudinal studies are needed to evaluate the long-term impact on simple clinical indicators as well as the overall quality of life of patients with chronic diseases.
