Abstract
Introduction: Heartfulness meditation is a simple, heart-based, and free daily practice designed to promote relaxation, inner peace, and emotional balance. It focuses on meditating on the heart while experiencing "yogic transmission" a subtle energy intended to foster inner transformation, empathy, and spiritual growth. Aims of the Study : to assess the effectiveness of Heartfulness meditation practice on women’s health in selected educational institutes of Pune city. Methodology : A quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test design was conducted among women working in selected educational institutions of Pune. A total of 70 participants were selected through simple random sampling and it was divided into experimental and control groups (35 each). Women aged ≥25 years who consented were included, while those previously exposed to Heartfulness meditation were excluded. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and the Mindful Self-Care Scale (MSCS). The experimental group received 40–45-minute Heartfulness meditation sessions by certified trainers. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including t -tests and chi-square. Results : The study showed that most participants were middle-aged, married, graduates/postgraduates, earning below ₹1,00,000, and had a history of illness. In the experimental group, low self-care reduced from 85.71% to 5.71% after Heartfulness meditation, with a significant increase in high self-care (48.57%); mean score improved from 49.29±9.74 to 89.14±20.78 (t=10.27, p=0.001). The control group showed no significant change (51.63±10.21 to 51.37±9.20; p=0.456). No significant association was found between demographic variables and pre-intervention health status (p>0.05). Overall, Heartfulness meditation was found to be effective in improving women’s health status. Conclusion : The study concludes that Heartfulness meditation significantly improves women’s health status, with marked enhancement in self-care levels in the experimental group compared to the control group. It is an effective non-pharmacological method to promote overall well-being.
