Abstract
This chapter deals with Cosmic Mysticism. The popularity of Cosmic Mysticism in Iran should be understood within the context of spiritual-therapeutic movements that have proliferated since the early 1990s, a development that is in turn connected to significant economic and social shifts in the years following the end of the 1980–1888 war with Iraq. A dual process of economic and cultural liberalization enabled the rise of alternative spiritual models that encouraged entrepreneurship, material ambition, and self-realization while lessening restrictions on publishing. Alternative spiritual ideas and practices soon emerged. Cosmic Mysticism entered this field of spiritual-therapeutic alternatives with a cosmology founded on a tripartite differentiation of existence: matter, energy, and consciousness. The chapter discusses Cosmic Mysticism's cosmological doctrine and two integrated healing systems, metatherapy and defensive radiation (also called “psymentology”).
