Abstract
At a time when discoveries in the quantum realm of science are challenging traditional concepts of the nature of reality, humans are experiencing a paradigm shift. The burgeoning field of consciousness research emerging from the psychedelic renaissance is encouraging a fresh look at the previously maligned transpersonal domains of experience and supports a more holistic view of psychopathology. This chapter examines the work of key theorists in the field of psychedelic-assisted therapy Carl Jung and Stanislav Grof, demonstrating the similarities between their conceptual frameworks and the adaptive information processing model from eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Grof’s insights from LSD research offer a unique opportunity to expand Francine Shapiro’s adaptive information processing model into transpersonal domains of experience, to provide a coherent framework to assist in the integration of psychedelic content.
