Abstract
There is a growing body of research on the psychological implications of mental states on biological functioning, which is creating a demand for novel techniques for creating mental states that are strong enough and persistent enough to have a substantial impact on physical health. One such avenue for researching mindbody relationships is the variety of meditation practices. This review aims tofamiliarize social and personality psychologists with the field of meditation research. We provide a quick overview of meditation and the variety of meditation techniques before showcasing research that relates meditation to modifications in immunological, cardiovascular, and pain perception. It is possible to gain fresh insights into mind-body connections through the practice of meditation.
