Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate if mindfulness-based interventions applied to students in the Brazilian university context are effective in reducing stress and anxiety. To achieve this goal, an integrative review was conducted, searching for articles published in the last 10 years in the BVS, Scielo, LILACS and Pepsic databases, as well as in specialised journals such as RBTC and RBTCC. The search terms used were “mindfulness”, “anxiety”, “stress” and “university students”. The studies showed mindfulness focused on improving stress, followed by a focus on improving anxiety in the Brazilian university context. In conclusion, the findings of this review point to the practice of mindfulness as being effective in reducing these symptoms in university students. However, a few empirical research has been found that addressed this specific population in the Brazilian context, suggesting an area for further research.
