Abstract

Chapter 43 is concerned with preventing the recurrence of depression. This intervention coincides with the maintenance phase in the IOM spectrum of care. This chapter describes the use of a LI group program based on Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) and provides the rationale behind MCBT, the session structure and content of an MCBT program, and the evidence of its effectiveness, concluding by discussing the potential of MCBT programs to be delivered in alternative formats such as via the telephone or internet.
