Mantra Chanting and Psychological Well-being: A Scientific and Philosophical Review

Universal Research Reports September 25, 2025 Anjali Prabhakar

Chanting Sanskrit mantras, understood in Indian tradition as sound vibrations expressing cosmic energy, measurably reduces stress, improves attention, induces relaxation, and strengthens emotional coping. Evidence from peer-reviewed studies on mantra chanting, Sanskrit phonetics, and biofeedback (EMG, GSR) supports these psychological benefits. Gayatri Mantra-based interventions showed particular advantages for students and clinical populations. The review concludes that mantra chanting is a viable, non-pharmacological tool for psychological well-being and human excellence, especially in educational settings.
