Digital Sufism for Mental Resilience in the AI Era

ISLAMIKA July 1, 2026 Dimyati Sajari, Abdul Haris, Rasi’in Rasi’in et al.

A spiritually grounded framework called Digital Sufism is proposed to restore inner balance and sacred awareness in an era dominated by artificial intelligence and digital technologies. Drawing on classical Sufi works by al-Qushayrī and al-Ghazālī, the study reinterprets practices of soul purification, divine mindfulness, and ethical self-reflection as moral and psychological principles for AI design and digital conduct. Sufism offers ethical direction and existential resilience against the algorithmic mediation of life. Incorporating Sufi epistemology into digital environments fosters self-awareness, moral accountability, and transcendental consciousness, bridging spirituality, psychology, and digital ethics for holistic human development.
