Practitioners of an urban shaman in Bratislava use narrative templates from Slovak traditional folk stories to shape their accounts of spiritual healing. The folk tradition helps adapt alternative spirituality to local conditions by making spiritual concepts more memorable.

Apocalyptic spirituality today is shaped by a globalized resurgence of religiousness and New Age spirituality, where millennial calendar anxieties, conspiracy thinking, and crisis consciousness are amplified by a constant flow of imagery from both old and new electronic media. The article examines two distinct types of religious or spiritual digital environments through their characteristic visual imagery: the more traditional setting of Christian millennialism and the hyper-eclectic atmosphere of New Age networks.
