C1. aminos del jaguar y el venado. conversación con kuau htli vásquez, médico tradicional mexica

Calle 14: Revista de Investigación en el Campo del Arte March 7, 2016 Mario Madroñero Morillo

An interview with Kuahtli Vásquez, a peyote doctor of Mexica descent, first recounts the traditional healer's learning experiences and his relationship with the political context of Indigenous people in northern Mexico. It then introduces another traditional healer from Putumayo who seeks the medicine of yagé or ayahuasca, and explores the encounter between healing forms that express pathways of knowledge without epistemic mediation, such as the shamanic practices of the Jaguar and the Deer, or the prophecies of the meeting between the Condor and the Eagle. The ultimate aim is to glimpse, through the words of the Amerindian traditional healer, what this ancestral thinking can contribute to the present times.
