Appearance of necrotizing sialometaplasia temporarily associated with MDMA consumption

Journal of Clinical and Experimental Dentistry January 1, 2026 E. Plaza-Matos, J. López-vicente, N. Larrea-Rodríguez et al. 1 citation

A 24-year-old woman developed necrotizing sialometaplasia, a benign inflammatory condition of the salivary glands, after licking MDMA powder onto her oral mucosa. The lesions healed completely with symptomatic treatment. This case suggests a previously unreported link between MDMA use and this condition, possibly through vasoconstrictive or other pathophysiological mechanisms.
