Sofrimento, edificação e esperança: uma análise modal
Differenz January 1, 2026 Róbson Ramos Dos Reis
This article investigates the ontological constitution necessary for transformational suffering, linking post-traumatic stress symptoms and post-traumatic growth with recent phenomenology of the experience of possibility. The central question asks how humans must be ontologically constituted for disruptive experiences to result in personal and epistemic growth. Drawing on Ratcliffe's phenomenology of horizon intentionality and Heidegger's modal ontology, the authors propose that existential suffering is fundamentally a loss of meaningful possibilities.
