Leibniz's Principles of Nature and Grace (PNG) introduces a new approach to subjectivity that differs from both Cartesian philosophy and panpsychism. Rather than starting from the human mind or from spirits as separate entities, the PNG presents an active subjectivity that emerges from the dynamic interconnection of all things and is embedded in nature through organic fibers. This incorporated subjectivity has implications for moral philosophy that have been largely overlooked by Leibniz scholars, who have focused on his conception of the living and the organism without exploring its repercussions for ethics.
