Sleep paralysis is a parasomnia occurring during REM sleep, marked by an inability to move voluntary muscles, sometimes with hallucinations. Medical students face high academic pressure, increasing stress, a risk factor for sleep paralysis. This study examined the relationship between stress levels and sleep hygiene with sleep paralysis among medical students at Universitas Syiah Kuala. Using DASS 42, Sleep Hygiene Index, and modified Unusual Sleep Experience Questionnaire, 253 students were surveyed. Results showed 49% had no stress, 17% mild, 21.3% moderate, 10.7% severe, and 2% very severe stress. Among stressed students, 87.4% had experienced sleep paralysis. Sleep hygiene was moderate in 54.2% and poor in 8.7%. Chi-Square tests indicated significant associations between stress levels and sleep hygiene with sleep paralysis.
