Sufism and Mysticism: Short Biography of Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jeelani (R.A)

British journal of multidisciplinary and advanced studies August 6, 2024 Asiya Nazir 1 citation

Sufism is a mystical dimension of Islam focused on purification, spirituality, and inner development, leading to expanded consciousness and self-awareness. In Kashmir, Sufism spread after the arrival of saints from Central Asia, who made the valley a center for meditation and worship. A central doctrine is the 'Perfect Man' (al-Insan al-Kamil), the belief that a 'Qutb'—a saint under divine protection—always exists on earth as a channel of grace from God. This paper presents a short biography of the Sufi saint Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jeelani (R.A.), illustrating his life and spiritual significance within this tradition.
