Design students often feel powerless and hopeless when confronting global crises, but contemplative practices can nurture hope. In design experiments with Master's programs in Denmark and Italy, adopting a contemplative approach during design-driven futuring processes fostered inner transformation and improved emotional and cognitive states. The study suggests that such practices can cultivate hope and empower designers to envision long-term futures despite pervasive uncertainty.
