Praktik Khalwāt dan Spiritualitas: Pengalaman Religius Santri di Pondok Pesantren
SUHU Journal of Sufism and Humanities December 20, 2025 Defa Fatma Sari, Zainul Abas
Khalwāt, a spiritual retreat practiced at an Islamic boarding school in Indonesia, is experienced by students not just as a ritual but as a transformative process that reshapes personal religious meaning. Participants reported increased inner peace, greater discipline in religious practice, and deeper self-awareness, along with mystical phenomena interpreted as spiritual testing and purification. The practice functions as an inner spiritual space that strengthens spirituality and fosters the ongoing development of students' religious subjectivity.
