METABOLIC FATE OF β-(3,4-DIMETHOXYPHENYL)-ETHYLAMINE IN MAN

Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics February 1, 1967 K. Charalampous, L. Tansey

The metabolism of C 14 -labeled β-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)ethylamine (DMPEA), reported to be present in the urine of several patients with mental disorders, was studied in man after oral administration. The cumulative excretion of radioactivity in the urine and the concentration of the radioactive material in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid were determined. Unchanged DMPEA,...

METABOLIC FATE OF ν-(3, 4, 5-TRIMETHOXYPHENYL)-ETHYLAMINE (MESCALINE) IN HUMANS: ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF 3,4, 5-TRIMETHOXYPHENYLACETIC ACID

Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics August 1, 1964 K. Charalampous, A. Orengo, K. Walker et al.

Human subjects given labeled β-(3,4 ,5-trimethoxyphyphenyl) -ethylanoine by mouth excrete an average of 81.9% of the administered dose in the urine during the first 12 hours. An average of 26.2% of the administered dose is excreted in the urine as free TMPA. TMPA given to humans by mouth produces no physiological or psychological changes.
