Using cortical wedges and isolated frog spinal cords, the potency of a series of psychoactive phencyclidine (PCP) and sigma receptor ligands as antagonists of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) has been compared with their potency in neurochemical and behavioural studies.
