Abstract— In rats treated with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor, (tranylcypromine), L‐ tryptophan produces a stereotyped syndrome of hyperactivity and hyperpyrexia due to an increased rate of brain serotonin (5‐hydroxytryptamine) synthesis.
