A 16-week program of yoga and mindfulness meditation reduced pain and disability and improved spinal flexibility in computer users with chronic low back pain more than physical exercise alone. In a randomized trial of 80 computer users in Bengaluru, India, both the yoga-meditation group and the physical exercise group improved, but the yoga-meditation group showed significantly greater reductions in Oswestry Disability Index scores (7.28 vs. 15.53) and Numerical Rating Scale pain scores (1.00 vs. 1.82) at 16 weeks, along with greater improvements in the Sit and Reach Test (26.41 vs. 22.82). The results suggest that yoga and mindfulness meditation are beneficial for this population.
