Effect of walking meditation on perceived stress and mental well-being in oncology health-care professionals: A randomized controlled trial

Yoga Mimamsa July 1, 2024 Anjali Mangesh Joshi, Suchitra Ajay Mehta, Santoshi Raju Wadhwani

A six-week movement-based walking meditation intervention reduced perceived stress and improved mental well-being among oncology health-care professionals at a tertiary care hospital in central India. In a randomized trial with 53 participants, those who practiced 20 minutes of daily walking meditation showed a significant reduction in perceived stress and improvement in mental well-being, while the control group experienced a significant increase in stress and decline in well-being. The findings suggest walking meditation may help address mental health challenges in this population, though further validation is needed.

Psychophysiological analysis of Kriya Yoga as per Patanjala Yoga Sutra

Yoga Mimamsa January 1, 2016 Sarita Vivek Bapat

Kriya Yoga, as described in the Patanjala Yoga Sutra, consists of three components—Tapas (austerity), Svadhyaya (self-study), and Ishwara pranidhana (surrender to the divine)—that appear both as the initial practice in the Sadhana Pada and as one of the Niyamas. This analysis argues that the repetition is significant because these three steps, when examined from a psychophysiological perspective, bring about internal bodily control and prepare the mind (chitta) by removing inner resistance, thereby enabling the practitioner to enter Samadhi. The process transforms an ordinary person into a yogi.
