Circuitry of the Individual Adaptive System

A theoretical model called the Egostat describes how living adaptive systems can be built from cellular homeostasis up to consciousness, intuition, and creativity using a unified causal architecture grounded in cause-and-effect relationships. Life is defined operationally as the functioning of a Homeostat that maintains life-critical parameters within adaptive norms. The model introduces new terminology—such as DiffSigner, Significance (an ego-centric evaluation scale from –10 to +10), Dendrarch, Orientant, Aten, Iteron, and Gestalt—to replace ambiguous traditional concepts. It rejects quantum hypotheses, panpsychism, and the hard problem of consciousness, treating consciousness as a high-level adaptive process: searching for alternatives to habitual responses under significant novelty. Subjective experience emerges from the dynamic evaluation of Significance. The architecture has been verified through working software prototypes without neuron emulation.
