The effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on self-compassion, Alexithymia and cognitive distortion of students experiencing love failure.

پژوهش‌های علوم شناختی و رفتاری June 28, 2022 Amir Reza Eftekhar Afzali, Fatemeh Izadi

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy training significantly improved self-compassion, reduced alexithymia (difficulty identifying and describing emotions), and decreased cognitive distortions among female university students experiencing love trauma syndrome. The study randomly assigned participants who had experienced love failure and scored above a threshold on a screening measure into experimental and control groups. Results indicated that the therapy was effective for all three outcomes. The authors suggest that counselors and psychologists can use this approach to help students with love trauma syndrome increase self-compassion and reduce emotional distress and distorted thinking.
