Mindfulness Yoga for Body and Mind Program Promotes Self-Compassion and Depression for Care-Workers
Journal of Education and Development May 29, 2026 Michiyo Ando, Hiroko Kukihara, Sayoko Ito
A brief online mindfulness yoga program for care workers (nurses and nursery schoolteachers) reduced depression scores from 11.2 to 9.1 and increased self-compassion scores from 35.8 to 39.9, both statistically significant changes. No significant changes were found in resilience or happiness. Self-compassion correlated positively with resilience and happiness and negatively with depression. The authors argue that mindfulness yoga promotes self-kindness and emotional regulation, contributing to well-being.
